ABOUT ME

About me

I was born and raised in Germany a long time ago. I have been living in the US since 1996. So yes, my first language is German.

I wrote my very first story at six years old. It was about two ducks fighting over a water dish. (Why do I remember this?) I kept writing throughout school, and also enjoyed being in the theater group in high school.

However, everyone told me that the arts were no place to make any money, so I became a social worker instead. The only other thing, besides writing and acting, that always interested me was helping people. So I did. I worked in the disability field.

In the mid 90s, my husband and I went to the US, so he could get his PhD in physics. I decided that if he could do that, why not I? I got mine in social work. We defended our dissertations on the very same day.

Then I had our two kids. I kept writing while they were growing up, always trying to hone my skills on the side. (One of the questions I had to figure out was: Is this my voice or is this just bad grammar?)

Now that the kids are grown I am focusing more on my writing and the arts. It has been a long time coming, and I am enjoying the here and now.
